The 2024 (Horgos) China Automotive Export Summit was successfully held on October 17-18, 2024. The theme of this forum is "A century-old port connects Europe and Asia, and a thousand-year Silk Road connects the future". It aims to explore new opportunities, challenges and leaps for Chinese automobiles in the Central Asian and Russian markets and promote the development of China's automobile industry overseas. More than 200 industry experts from the Ministry of Commerce and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, OEMs such as China FAW, Dongfeng Motor, and Changan Automobile, and representatives of automobile export industry chain companies attended the forum.
Zhang Lin, director of the Machinery Department of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce, said in his speech that Horgos, as an important fulcrum city in the core area of the
Silk Road Economic Belt, has a unique geographical location, rich resources and rapidly growing economic vitality. It is not only an international hub for China to Central Asia, West Asia and even Europe,
but also an important bridgehead for Chinese auto brands to "go global", providing good development opportunities for Chinese auto brands to go overseas. As an important supporting department for
China's auto exports, the Ministry of Commerce will spare no effort to promote the internationalization of China's auto industry.
Xu Haidong, deputy chief engineer of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that at present, the vigorous rise of new energy vehicles and the rapid integration of intelligent network technology
have brought new growth points to the automotive industry and also put forward new requirements. We should take Horgos as an important fulcrum, strengthen policy communication, deepen cooperation in technological innovation,
optimize the layout of the supply chain, strengthen talent training and exchanges, and promote the production capacity cooperation between China's auto industry and Central Asian countries with a more open attitude and more pragmatic actions,
and jointly explore new paths for the transformation and upgrading of the auto industry to achieve common development.
In recent years, my country's automobile exports have shown explosive growth. The commercial vehicles exported through the Horgos Port account for more than 50% of the total number of commercial vehicles exported through Xinjiang ports, and it
has become the largest land port for automobile exports in the country. This forum has not only built a new platform for logistics companies to exchange ideas, share wisdom, and seek common development, but also created new opportunities for the
Chinese automobile industry and the Central Asian market to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. It will surely help more domestically produced cars to accelerate "going out" and open up a broader international market.
During the forum, guests from many well-known domestic and foreign companies and institutions such as the Kazakhstan Automobile Dealers Association, the Central Credit Bank of Kazakhstan, JAC Motors, China Ping An Property Insurance, and Dr. Cha
delivered wonderful speeches, sharing their market experience, success stories, and innovative ideas in the automotive industry.
With the continuous improvement of customs clearance efficiency, more and more foreign trade companies choose to conduct import and export trade at the Horgos Port. In order to better undertake the strategic positioning and mission tasks entrusted by
the country and the autonomous region, Horgos has accelerated the construction of the Horgos area of the China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone, giving full play to its special advantages such as location, policies, and openness, and strengthening economic and trade exchanges,
industrial cooperation, and cultural exchanges with countries and regions participating in the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", providing strong guarantees for the in-depth cultivation of Chinese auto brands in the Central Asian market.
During this period, the 2024 third quarter overseas operation exchange meeting for key enterprises was held in Horgos. Director Zhang Lin and Director Guo Lin of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce attended the meeting, and Xu Haidong, Deputy Chief Engineer of the
China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, presided over the exchange meeting.
At the meeting, representatives of more than ten key enterprises in the industry, including Dongfeng, Changan, Geely, Great Wall, JAC, Jiangling, Yutong, Xiaopeng, Hozhong, and Daan, conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the overseas development trends, problems
and development opportunities of the automotive industry in 2024, predicted and judged the overseas development in 2025 and the future, and put forward policy suggestions for common issues of concern to enterprises.
